FIRST LOOK at the Grand Reopening of 1900 Park Fare

The beloved 1900 Park Fare restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has finally reopened after a four year closure. There are some big updates from characters to dining, theming, and more that we are excited to share with you!

What is 1900 Park Fare?

This is a character dining restaurant featuring a variety of characters as well as a buffet meal. You can book a reservation here for breakfast (8:00am-Noon) or Dinner (4:00pm-9:00pm).

Since this is a character breakfast, this is a little bit pricier at $54 per adult and $34 per child (ages 3-9) for breakfast and $66 per adult and $41 per child (ages 3-9) for dinner. Dining Plans are also accepted here, so it’s a great use of your credits!

The Theming

You will still see some of the carousel elements from the original restaurant in small nods throughout the lobby and dining room, but they definitely gave this a facelift!

The new theme is all about ‘wish making’ and they even call you a wish maker when you are greeted! You’ll find little star elements all around from the wallpaper to the sparkly desserts and more.

When you are taken to your table, you are given an autographed card with a place on the back to write down your wish. They do a very cute ‘Wish Ceremony’ during your meal where you’ll hold your card up and say the wish pledge. The characters get really into it and it’s their version of a ‘character parade’ that you’ll find at most character meals.

The colors that they use for the walls, carpet, and more compliment the new refurbished style of the entire resort making it a beautiful place to dine.

My favorite was definitely the stunning portraits lining the walls all around the restaurant. They even had newer movies like Wish along with classics like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, and more.

The Characters

Going along with the wish theme, you’ll find that the characters here fit quite nicely! I’ll be honest that when I first heard the lineup, I was a bit confused, but now that I get the ‘vibe’ it makes much more sense!

You’ll of course still have your classic Cinderella who of course is known for her song ‘A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes’. Believe it or not…. This was actually the first time we’ve met Cinderella!

You’ll also meet Aladdin in his Prince Ali Costume. Of course, his whole movie is about making wishes with the Genie! This was a super fun character to chat with and it was cool to have a prince at this meal.

Our favorite was Tiana in her BRAND NEW costume! This is also the costume that you’ll see her in when the new attraction Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens this summer. She’s ready to head out to the bayou to collect some spices for her latest recipe and she is looking fabulous doing it!

This takes place just after the first movie, so we noticed that she even had a gold wedding ring on! Such a cool little touch!

And finally there was Mirabel. I’ll be honest that I don’t totally get this one, but she was still super fun to meet! We are hoping that they may swap her out for Asha in the future, (that makes waaay more sense, right?) but we’ll just have to wait and see!

The Food

As mentioned earlier, this is a buffet style dining. We attended dinner and were really impressed by the options! You had everything from peel & eat shrimp, gumbo, salmon, fresh carved prime rib, salads, cheeses, mashed potatoes, and more!

For the kiddos (or picky eaters), you could find chicken tenders, pizza, turkey meatballs, and mac & cheese. I’ll be honest that if you are a picky eater, breakfast may be a better value for you as there were some options… but not a ton for dinner.

Our personal favs were definitely the gumbo, salmon, and mashed potatoes! They were full of flavor and prepared really well.

Dessert

You didn’t think we’d forget about the Strawberry Soup, did you!? There is a great selection of desserts ranging from more chocolately options like a lava cake, brownie, and chocolate chip cookies, to more lighter flavors like a lemon-blueberry cheesecake, vanilla cupcakes, and even a toasted coconut cake with passion fruit custard!

You’ll also find a station for the Strawberry Soup where you can add fresh strawberries and whipped cream. I’ll be honest that this soup was a little weird for me. Good, yes, but it reminded me of a melted smoothie or super runny yogurt. It will definitely be a great treat for kiddos! You can get this at both breakfast and dinner.

And I can’t forget about the super fun Gummy Bear Dispenser! The gummies do get a little stuck, so don’t be afraid to ask a Cast Member if it doesn’t seem to be dispensing properly.

Overall

This is a fantastic Character Dining option, especially if you are looking for something a little more unique. The food was very good and a little more upscale for a buffet, but I do think that if you have pickey eaters or those with dietary needs, breakfast is going to be a better value. (we definitely want to go back for breakfast - eggs benedict, omelets, guava danishes and more!)

I’m very curious to see how this character meal will evolve and whether or not afternoon tea will return in the future, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
