How to Prep your Phone for Disney World
If you're planning a trip to Disney World, there are a few apps that you'll definitely want to have on your phone to make your experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. These are all of my favorites that I use for every Disney Trip! (this post contains affiliate links)
First and foremost, the My Disney Experience app is a must-have. This app allows you to see all of your resort and ticket reservations in one place, as well as make mobile orders for food, purchase and book genie+ and lightning lanes through the tip board, and see wait times for rides and attractions. It's also a great way to keep track of all your activities and plans while you're at Disney World. Of any of these, you MUST have this app! You can learn more about how to use the My Disney Experience App HERE or by clicking the button below!
Another app that can be helpful is Play Disney Parks, which offers interactive games and activities that you can do around the parks. This is a great way to add a little extra magic to your trip, and it's a fun way to keep entertained while you're waiting in line for rides or shows. With the new Magicband+ this is especially important as there are a few exciting virtual ‘scavenger hunts’ that you can do using your band. Batuu Bounty Hunters in Galaxy’s Edge sends you on a mission to track down bounty hunters and earn virtual ‘credits’. The BRAND NEW Duck Tales World Showcase Adventure in Epcot sends you on a treasure hunt around the various countries around world showcase.
If you're planning on using Lightning Lane during your trip, you might want to consider downloading the Standby Skipper app. This app can help you book your Lightning Lane selections for you, so you don't have to worry about trying to snag a spot yourself. This can be a GAME CHANGER if you don’t want to be on your phone all day. This is a third party app, so please be aware that there are additional cost that apply! You can learn more about Standby Skipper on their Instagram Page.
If you're worried about running out of phone battery during your trip, you might want to consider purchasing a Fuel Rod. These are portable chargers that you can then swap for free at various locations around the Disney Parks and Resorts. These super come in handy when I forget to charge my portable charger each night! Make sure you download the Fuelrod app. This app can help you locate fuel rod swap locations around Disney World, so you can easily get your phone charged up when you need it. (PS, Fuelrods are ALL OVER - not just Disney! They aren’t free at non-Disney locations, but they can be a great option if you travel alot). You can purchase two fuel rods for the price of one HERE.
If you're looking for a convenient way to get around Disney World, you might want to consider using Lyft's Minnie Van service. To use this service, you'll need to have the Lyft app on your phone. These are driven by Disney Cast Members and are a great option if you don’t want to wait in line for the buses or if you want a little bit of a splurge.
Finally, it's always a good idea to have your airline app on hand during your trip. This can be helpful for checking in for your flight and keeping track of your flight status. I ALWAYS recommend using your airlines app, so that you can easily pull up information regarding your flight instead of going directly to the website.
This tip isn’t an app, but still very important! As you're packing for your trip, don't forget to make sure your phone has plenty of storage space available. You're sure to take a ton of photos during your time at Disney World, and you'll want to make sure you have room to store them all.
Overall, these apps can help make your trip to Disney World more enjoyable and stress-free. So be sure to download them before you go!
