The BEST Eats in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
It’s no secret that Animal Kingdom is my favorite theme park and one of those reason is 100% how delicious the food is there! Of the Walt Disney World theme parks, you are going to find some of the most unique and yummy eats and I want to tell you all about my favorites!
Satu’li Canteen
Ok, we are starting off with probably the most popular quick service on property, but it’s for good reason! Satu’li Canteen is located in Pandora - World of Avatar and features a menu with ‘create your own bowl’ type offerings.
My personal favorite is the Ocean Moon Bowl. This was originally a limited time offering that came out to promote the second Avatar movie, but it was highly popular, so they kept it on the menu! This is Pandora’s version of a poke bowl with fresh tuna, avocado, cucumber, and even blue noodles. If you are a poke fan, this is a must try!
If raw fish isn’t up your alley, don’t worry! They have some much ‘safer’ options too. The traditional ‘create your own bowl’ allows you to choose your base of either noodles, potato hash, rice, or salad. Then you choose your protein from shrimp, beef, chicken, or crispy fried tofu. And finally your sauce! You can even do a chicken/beef combo bowl.
These are super yummy, and not as heavy as your typical theme park food. If a bowl sounds like alot, they even have cheeseburger steamed pod that are basically if you were to take a mcdonald’s cheeseburger and stuff it inside of a steamed bao bun! I also highly recommend the kids meals if you are wanting a lighter bite.
Dessert is also super fun at this quick service location! They have a chocolate or a blueberry cream cheese mousse desserts that are some of the prettiest that you’ll find on property. they are simple, but very good.
Recently, they also brought back breakfast to Satu’li Canteen! This was offered when the land first opened back in 2017, but they took it off the menu for a LOOONG time before finally bringing it back in fall of 2024. There are a variety of sweet and savory options that are all pretty good.
We recommend the Frittata and Beef that comes with a vegetable-goat cheese frittata and wood fired beef (the same beef that comes with the lunch/dinner bowls). This is a great savory option to also give you a nice protein boost in the morning!
For those that like something sweet, you may want to give the Cinnamon French Toast a try. This is almost a mix between a cinnamon roll and french toast and even comes with a blueberry cream cheese sauce to give it a really unique flavor.
Alright, enough about Satu’li! This is a super popular restaurant that I highly recommend trying at least once, but there are also LOADS of other delicious eats in this park!
Flame Tree BBQ
This is another popular one, but it’s hard to resist when you walk by and smell that delicious BBQ. Honestly most of the things you can get here are delish, but I want to highlight some of my favorites!
You can get a side of french fires with pulled pork and nacho cheese. This is a perfect option if you want a smaller bite that doesn’t cost a whole ton! PLUS this even qualifies as a snack credit if you are on the dining plan.
My other favorite is the Impossible Burnt Ends. These were a surprising win for me! These are made from plant-based Impossible meat, but honestly you wouldn’t know unless I told you! The BBQ sauce is delish and it comes with French Fries and Slaw.
For my cupcake fans, they do offer a Flamingo Cupcake that has strawberry cake with a strawberry compote filling and guava buttercream. This is definitely sweet, but the fruity flavors make this one of the better Disney cupcakes in my opinion. (And it’s super fun for photos too!)
Isle of Java
Right next door to Flame Tree is a little drink stand called Isle of Java. They have one of my FAVORITE adult beverages - the Island Sunrise. This is basically POG (Pineapple - Orange - Guava) juice with tequila and a splash of watermelon syrup. Its a refreshing drink and one I LOVE to grab one on a hot day!
Dinoland
Some of these treats will be going extinct as this land continues it’s phased permanent closure to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, so you’ll want to make sure you grab these before they are gone!
Right before you walk into Dinoland, you’ll come across Trilo-Bites. They serves some soft serve floats and soda, by my FAVORITE thing is the Buffalo Chicken Chips! These are the perfect buffalo flavor without being spicy - so great if you aren’t a fan of spice - and there is loads of chicken, a blue cheese cream sauce, and tomato & celery relish. These are perfectly shareable and one of my favorites!
Over at Dino-Bite Snacks, you can get the Dino Dig Ice Cream Sandwich. This is a HUGE scoop of vanilla ice cream smashed between two sugar cookies and covered in sprinkles and cookie crumbs. This is again a great shareable snack for those looking for a unique sweet treat!
Asia
Speaking of Sweet treats, when you head over to Asia, make a stop at the colorful Anandapur Ice Cream Truck. They have some of the best soft serve on property and again, it’s perfect for a hot day.
Let’s talk breakfast again! My number one favorite breakfast can be found at Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe. This is the quick service location next to the main Yak & Yeti Restaurant. They offer breakfast sandwiches and breakfast bowls, but my FAVORITE are the hashbrown medallions that come on the side. These are essentially smashed tater tots and I’m not sure what the seasoning is that they use, but it’s delicious!
They also offer a sausage and pancake corndog situation on the kids menu that is surprisingly really good!
Heading just a bit farther past the Feathered Friends in Flight show, you will stumble upon Mr. Kamal’s. They serve some tasty chicken dumplings as well as the famous Mr. Kamal’s Fries! These are specially seasoned fries served with a sriracha mayo and although it’s a pretty basic snack, the unique flavors make this a very satisfying dish.
Africa
Heading over to Africa, you’ll find even more of my favorite bites! Harambe Market is a great quick service option for lunch - just make sure you head over earlier in the day as they do usually close around 3pm! They have some shrimp or chicken and rice bowls that have some great unique seasoning. I love that they serve these with a tomato/cucumber salad that makes these a more healthy theme park option. If you are more of a picky eater, they do offer a more toned down version of these bowls on the kids menu.
Just across the way and around the corner is Tamu Tamu Refreshments. This is where you can purchase Dole Whip in this park, however I am after the Pineapple Crisp Sundae! This is a pineapple crisp cake served with vanilla ice cream, pineapple caramel, and crispy streusel on top! The cake is perfectly moist and flavorful while the vanilla ice cream gives it a smooth flavor. This is also a HUGE portion for the price, so it’s great for sharing.
My NUMBER ONE must stop is Kusafiri Bakery! This is near Kilimanjaro Safari and is almost hidden since it’s just a little window tucked back in the corner. However, you’ll find probably the BEST coffee drink on property here! The Coconut-flavored Iced Coffee is Joffrey’s cold brew with coconut milk and drizzle of sweetened condensed milk on the sides. This isn’t a super sweet drink, but i do recommend mixing that sweetened condensed milk really well (after you get your coffee pics of course).
They also serve some of my other favorite breakfast options like the Guava Danish and the breakfast Totchos! The breakfast totchos have tots, scrambled eggs, nacho cheese, cheese curds, and crumbled bacon!
Kusafiri used to serve lunch and had my absolute FAVORITE dish of the harissa marinated chicken flatbread. This was basically a harissa chicken wrap and it was SO delicious! As of right now, Kusafiri only serves breakfast until 11am, but hopefully one day they will bring these back!
I would also like to give a dishonorable mention to the street corn served at the Harambe Fruit Market just outside the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safari. They used to have a super yummy corn on the cob that was made fresh with african spices, but they have since changed it and they are no longer made fresh. I have tried it since they changed it and can confirm that it is terrible…. my heart is broken about it, but I want to save you your dollars and disappointment by warning you away from it! Again, maybe someday they will bring back the freshly made ones, but until then, it’s a skip from me.
Nomad Lounge
Last but not least, we’ve gotta talk about Nomad Lounge! This is the lounge attached to the Tiffins restaurant. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating with comfy lounge seating and couches. The drinks are all super fun and flavorful while the bites are a yummy elevated take on lounge food.
Some of my favorites is the poke bowl (of course) as well as the pork belly and the churros! I’ll be honest that I’m not a churro fan, but the ones served here are great!
Some of our favorite drinks are the Jenn’s Tattoo featuring vodka, watermelon, and hibiscus as well as the Night Monkey with rum, guava puree, coffee simple syrup & lime juice.
This lounge operates on a walk-up wait list, but it does fill up fast! You can join in person, or through the app, but my recommendation is to get on the list as soon as it opens up around 11am!
As you can see, there are a TON of fantastic foodie offerings in this park and I haven’t even discovered them all yet! Personally I would skip the sit-down meals here so that you can snack and eat your way around all the delicious quick service and snack options that this park has to offer.
