our camera

Our main camera for vlogging in the parks is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. We love how easy this camera is to use for on the go and the fact that it is super lightweight and non-conspicuous makes it feel less disruptive when filming in larger crowds. We do recommend the creator kit! It comes with an extra battery (that also makes the handle longer) and a wide angle lens to help get more in the image. You also get a Mic that we’ll talk more about below.

We used to film on our Sony A6600 and although we do still like to use this for photography, we rarely use it for vlogging much these days.

For Reels and times that we have more watery conditions like rain, water parks, or water rides, we simply use our Iphone 15 Pro Max!

our lenses

Cameras are great and all, but it’s the lenses that make all the difference when getting a high quality shot.

The Sony 10-18mm f/4 is our favorite vlogging lense as it has a super wide view for getting in all the detail. This lens is also super crispy and has fantastic stabilization.

The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 is a wider angle lens that is great for talking heads and getting those wider landscape shots as well as working great in low light situations.

The Sony 18-105mm f/4 is perfect for anything that you need the flexibility to zoom and is an overall great beginner and versatile lens.

We also have a ND filter set for our lenses. This is essentially sunglasses for our lens. This allows us to use a lower F-stop but keep our image from blowing out the whites. We use the Freewell Magnetic ND Filter Kit. PS - the magnetic feature makes these SO easy to switch between and it comes with a lens cap that is much more secure than the standard ones!

our microphones

For our Osmo, we use the DJI Mic 2. It is a lapel mic that comes with the creator combo and we’ve been super impressed with the sound quality! It automatically connects to the Osmo, but if you wish to use it for another camera or even your phone you can purchase the Combo kit which comes with two mics and the reciever.

Our Sony camera mic is the Rode VideoMicro. We LOVE the ease of this run and gun mic and it so far has a pretty great sound!

our accessories

Our favorite Camera bag (for our Sony) is the WANDRD Rogue Sling. We absolutely adore this bag! Since it’s more of a sling bag versus a backpack, it’s a little less conspicuous, while still being protective of all our gear. We love that this bag has alot of storage, so it’s easy to fit everything we need for a day of vlogging and then some!

If we are using our Osmo, the Cotopaxi Kapai hip pack has been one of the easiest park bags we’ve ever used! It’s essentially a fanny pack, but they can come in a variety of color combos. We can usually fit one umbrella and the Osmo along with all of our other park essentials.

We use the Peak Design Slide Camera Strap for our camera and we LOVE this strap! The easy release anchor links make it super simple to attach and remove the strap when we go from handheld shooting to tripod shooting and back again.

our data storage

For Data Storage, we use Sandisk 256 GB memory cards for our big camera and the Sandisk Extreme 256 GB micro sd for our Osmo. This allows us plenty of space for tons of pictures and video. We then back everything up on a few different hard drives. Our portable hard drive is the Sandisk 2 TB Extreme Portable Solid State Drive. This is great for on the go editing and backing up our camera footage after a filming session. Our “big Bertha” hard drive is Western Digital 10TB MyBook. This one stays in the back of a drawer somewhere and is where we dump all of our older footage that we not longer need frequent access to, but still want to be backed up.
