Mickey’s Not So Scary Dessert Party

If you are looking for a little way to make your visit to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Extra Special, you might want to consider a Dessert Party!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event at Magic Kingdom where you can enjoy all the fun and family friendly halloween activities from dressing up to trick-or-treating, live entertainment, fireworks, and much much more! You can find our full guide HERE. OR you can watch it in our full video on YouTube!

What is a Dessert Party?

I’ll be super honest, Magic Kingdom Fireworks are CROWDED! I don’t love waiting in a hot sticky crowd for an hour and even though the fireworks are totally worth it, you probably wouldn’t want to do it either. Dessert Parties are a great option to skip the crowd and still get to see those awesome fireworks!

When you book a dessert party, you get to head to Tomorrowland Terrace to enjoy a variety of desserts, snacks, drinks (including wine & beer) and more! Then depending on the party you book, you get reserved viewing either there or in the hub to enjoy the show.

What are the different options?

There are TWO offerings during the Halloween Party that you can do. The first (and more expensive) option is the Tomorrowland Terrace Viewing. The regular park hours version of this would be called ‘Treats & Seats’ (BTW, YES, they do offer similar dessert parties on non-party nights too!)

With this party, you will pay $114 per adult and $69 per child (ages 3-9). You can arrive to Tomorrowland Terrace up to an hour before fireworks and enjoy your treats and then during the show you can sit at the reserved area and continue to enjoy your treats while you enjoy the fireworks.

The other option is the ‘Plaza Garden Viewing’ party. The regular park hours equivalent would be the ‘Pre or Post Fireworks’ Party. This works pretty much the exact same way, but instead of seats, you will head out to the hub grass area right outside of Tomorrowland Terrace and have a reserved standing viewing area to watch the fireworks. Pricing for this one is a little less expensive at $99 per adult and $59 per child (ages 3-9). This is the party we opted to experience!

You can book both of these experiences up to 60 days in advance.

What is it like?

You will check-in for your party up to 1 hour before showtime at Tomorrowland Terrace. They will ask for your name, verify your reservation, and then give you a wristband so that you are able to get into the different dessert and viewing areas.

A cast member will guide you to a table and then you can go up to the different dessert bars and get your treats and drinks. It’s all unlimited so grab as much as you like!

The part that really gets you the most bang for your buck is the wine and beer, so if you do drink, definitely grab a glass or two (or three). Keep in mind that any treats or drinks are unable to leave the area, so you must finish them before you head over to the hub grass if that is your viewing area.

Fireworks Viewing

I’ve done dessert parties before and since then I’ve learned a few tips that will make a HUGE difference in your experience. First off, I do recommend getting to the hub at least 10 minutes early so that you can scope out your spot. It may seem full when you get there, but don’t worry! Once fireworks get closer to starting, everyone will stand up and probably push forward to the front of the hub.

That brings me to my next tip: DON’T try to watch from the front of the hub! I know it will be a little closer, BUT you also will have a ton of people squished in around you and that’s what we are trying to avoid. Instead, head to the back left area of the hub grass. You’ll find alot more room AND you’ll be more centered to the castle for a better view.

Along with this, I also recommend avoiding the right side as there are quite a few trees that may block your view. Trust me…. I WISH I knew this the first time I did a dessert party.

Is it worth it?

Well…. honestly I think that depends on you and your family! If you are someone who really hates the crowds but really wants a good view of the fireworks, this is a great upgrade! This isn’t the cheapest thing and if you have a large party this can add up fast (and you already paid alot to be at the party in the first place) so if saving money is important, this may not be the best option. You can always still see it from anywhere in front of the castle or even if you don’t care about the projections, you can watch the fireworks from lots of places around the park! My favorite is by the Tangled Bathrooms as it’s usually pretty quiet and you can see both the main fireworks and the fireworks off the castle.

If you have little ones that don’t handle crowds well, then this may also be a great option! Having that room to run around in the hub or even being able to have a seat in at Tomorrowland Terrace can help both you and your little one enjoy the fireworks even better!

Also consider that this will eat up some party time, so make sure that you are planning out your priorities so that you can fit things in! You don’t have to arrive at exactly an hour before, but I recommend at least 30-45 minutes so that you have time to eat your treats.
