my favorite money saving tips for walt disney world
Disney is a spendy place no matter how you do it, BUT that doesn't mean you have to break the bank. There ARE great ways to save money and they are pretty easy! It just takes a little bit of planning.
Gift Cards
Purchase discounted Disney Giftcards at Target, Costco, and other discount locations! You can use these to pay for anything from dining and merchandise to hotel and park tickets!
Free Water
Don't pay for water! Water bottles are incredibly expensive at Disney. You can order cases of water to your hotel OR even better - you can get FREE cups of ice water at any Quick Service Location selling fountain drinks.
Sharing is Caring
Share meals or even order a kids meal! Disney portions are pretty big and easily shareable and kids meals even come with sides and a drink.
Discounts
Keep an eye out for discounts! Disney will typically release discounts around 3-4 months before and they can usually be applied to existing bookings.
Park Hopper or Base Ticket?
Is it your first trip? Consider skipping out on park hopper. There is PLENTY to experience in each park to fill up and entire day!
consider two resorts
If you are planning on spending most of your time in the parks, consider staying at a Value or Moderate Resort! You can even do a split stay where you stay at a Deluxe resort towards then end of your trip when you plan on taking some much needed resort days at the end of your stay. That way you save money on the days you won't be at your hotel much and then you can take full advantage on your resort days!
Bring Snacks
Bring Snacks with you to the parks! As long as you don't have glass, alcohol, or items that need heated - you are welcome to bring food with you to the parks! This can be a great supplement so that you can spend money on the snacks & meals you REALLY want!
Celebrate
Pick up a FREE Celebration button at your Resort Check-in Desk or Guest Services. They have options for first visit, birthdays, and whatever else you may be celebrating!
Epcot Festivals
Visiting one of the Epcot festivals? It's easy to get carried away on all the yummy eats! Plan ahead how much you want to spend and pick up a gift card bracelet. Once it's gone, you're done! (and it makes balancing the checkbook MUCH easier)
Choose your priorities
Prioritize your Budget for the things most important to you and splurge in those areas. Are catching all the rides a big deal? Budget for Genie+ or plan on a deluxe resort with extended evening hours. Are you a foodie? Plan ahead and budget for the restaurants you wish to experience!
