Review of Primo Piatto Breakfast

HONESTLY.... Breakfast at Disney can either be really great or really meh...

We have tried breakfast at many places in Disney World and we’ve had some pretty top notch options as well as some that are a little less than extraordinary.

If you want a Quick Service option that's pretty delicious but isn’t going to break the bank, hop on over to Primo Piatto at Disney's Riviera Resort. The menu of course has your standard eggs and bacon dishes, but they also have some unique options as well!

Don’t forget to check out our video review!

The Ambiance

We LOVE the ambiance of this dining location! The light colors and tons of windows make this a airy and seemingly spacious restaurant. The kitchen is somewhat open so you can even watch as the chefs prepare your food.

There are some grab and go options in the refrigerated cases, but currently this restaurant is mobile order only, so make sure that you have the MyDisney Experience App downloaded and your food ordered before you go! They do not allow you to enter the restaurant until your order is ready, but if they are not busy, they do allow you wait at a table if it is available.

This location is also open for lunch and dinner (which also have some pretty tasty options) but today we are just going to chat about breakfast.

We went right around park opening so most people were headed to the parks and not breakfast so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves!

Our food took about 10 minutes to prepare which wasn’t too bad since we were able to walk around and enjoy the resort before our food was ready!

They give it to you in a paper sack and each meal is in it’s own food container so it’s super easy to take back to your room or eat on the go if you do not choose to eat in the dining room. We were taking some food back to my brother in our room so this was great that we were able to eat our and then take easily take the rest with us!

Now for the food!

We got quite a spread this morning! What we love about this dining location is the variety of options this location has to offer. Of course they have your standards, but they even give some of those a unique twist to give it that Riviera flair.

We purchased the following:

Lemon Blueberry Pancakes $11.29

Cinnamon Crumble “French Toast” Bread Pudding $10.29

Kid’s Primo Platter $6.99

Cafe Latte $4.29

Cappuccino $3.29

Lemon Blueberry Pancakes

These were absolutely delicious! They were full of flavor and a great portion size. They included a Marscapone Cream which was basically your butter and you could choose a side to go with it such as bacon or sausage. The lemon flavor was strong, but not overwhelming. The blueberries gave this dish a sweetness and these were truly pretty yummy!

The sausage was also super juicy and pretty great as far as Disney sausage goes.

Cinnamon Crumble “French Toast” Bread Pudding

This dish was good, but sounded more fun than it actually was. It was your typical bread pudding but was fried similar to french toast with powdered sugar on top and a vanilla custard was included to pour on top. Don’t get me wrong, this was pretty good, but in terms of flavor, it was lacking a little bit. We wish that it had just a little bit more cinnamon flavor. It is a great option if you have a french toast lover! The custard was a really nice touch and this dish also included a side.

Kid’s Primo Platter

We really wanted some savory to go with our sweets, but we didn’t want to spend the additional almost $11 for the adult portion. The nice thing is that most Disney restaurants allow you to order from the kid’s menu even if you are not a child! Bonus, you even get a drink and extra side included!

This dish included eggs, bacon, (or sausage), a biscuit, Marscapone Polenta, a choice of apples or yogurt, and a drink!

For $6.99 this felt like a pretty decent bargain! The eggs were pretty typical and not anything to write home about, but the Polenta was pretty delicious! I would describe this as a super creamy and cheesy grits but a little smoother almost like mashed potatoes texture. We loved that part and it was totally worth it for that!

We got some bacon with this dish and it was pretty typical for bacon, but pretty good! The apples were prepackaged similar to what you would get with a McDonald’s happy meal, so they do taste a little chemically from the preservatives, but at least they are a somewhat healthier option to have with it.

That roll was DELICIOUS! It had salt flakes on top which gave it some good flavor. We do wish the roll was a little warmer, but it was a great addition to this meal!

We did end up getting the adult version of this meal for my brother and it was pretty much the same as the child’s portion. It had of course larger portions of each food and did not include the apples or drink, but he said it was also pretty tasty!

Coffee

We both got a coffee and my husband liked his quite a bit. He drinks his coffee black, so he was pretty pleased with his choice. I prefer some (ok, actually alot) of sweetness in mine and I did not realize that my cappuccino would not come with any sugar. I had to add quite a bit, but even then it still was pretty bitter…

If you don’t mind a more bitter cup of coffee, than these may not be a bad option, but overall we would recommend heading around the corner to Le Petit to get a little bit better cup of coffee.

How do you get there?

Don’t worry! You don’t have to be staying at the Riviera to eat here! We were staying at Pop Century, so we were easily able to hop on the Skyliner to get to this resort. If you are staying at any of the Skyliner resorts, than you can use this same method to get here.

However, something to note: if Epcot has not yet opened, they will not let you take the Skyliner from the main hub (at Caribbean Beach Resort) to the Riviera unless you have a dining reservation and mobile orders do not count. Hopefully this won’t always be the case, but don’t worry! It’s only about an 8 minute walk from the hub to the Riviera, so its great to get in a beautiful morning walk before breakfast and you can order your food on the way.

You can however hop back on the Skyliner to return back to your resort.

If you are not staying at a Skyliner resort, it’s a little trickier to get here, but still not too bad. You will either need to take a bus, boat, or monorail and head to a park that is open. (preferably Hollywood studios) Then you can take either the Skyliner or a bus over to the Riviera. This can take a little bit longer, but at least it’s free!

Of course if time is not on your side, you can always opt to pay for an Uber, Lyft, or Minnie Van whenever that service becomes available again. We’ve found that going from resort to resort tends to cost between $15-30 depending on where you are traveling from and the time of day.

Overall

We highly recommend giving Primo Piatto a try on your next trip! Lunch and Dinner are equally as good and sometimes it’s fun to have something a little more unique for breakfast, even if you are not able to book one of the more expensive table service options.

Don’t forget to take some fun pics that those beautiful Mosaic Walls!
