Flavors of Florida in disney Springs

Almost every month in Disney Springs, you will find a new celebration happening celebrating culture and other events through a variety of culinary delights! This month is Flavors of Florida and we tried some of the new dishes all around Disney Springs.

This event runs from July 1st-August 13th and has over 30 participating restaurants. These are essentially specialty food and drinks items that celebrate the ‘flavors of Florida’ from seafood to citrus and more. There are TONS of offerings, so there is sure to be something that everyone will enjoy.

You can find a Foodie Guide showcasing all these tasty eats and where to find them in the My Disney Experience App OR you can pick up a Booklet Guide at any participating location.

Gideon’s Bakehouse

This bakery serves HALF POUND super indulgent cookies. If you are a sweets fan, you don’t want to miss out! The bakehouse itself is a quirky gothic theme and each month you get a little menu card with a special character for the month. These are super fun and a great collectible since they create these characters specifically for Gideon’s!

There are TWO specialty cookies this month - one for the event and one as their regular specialty cookie. The Key Lime Cookie has a great blend of lime flavor with the chocolatey goodness you expect from a Gideon’s Cookie. I know those flavors may seem a little weird, but it’s a unique treat that you don’t want to miss if you can get it!

The other cookie is a Coconut Caramel Chocolate Chip. If you like sweet, this one is SWEET! You mostly get chocolate and Coconut flavors from the big chunks of coconut on top, but Gideon’s always does a great job of adding just the right amount of salt to cut the flavors and enhance them at the same time.

Gideon’s does more than just cookies! They are also famous for their specialty cold brews! This month, they have the orange mocha cold brew which tastes very similar to those little orange chocolate balls that you can always find around the holiday season. These cold brews are definitely sweet, so if you are someone who likes their coffee black, be warned!

Jock Lindsey’s

This is my FAVORITE bar on property! The theming here is based around Jock Lindsey - the pilot from the Indiana Jones franchise. There are tons of little hidden easter eggs all throughout the bar that nod to different things in the movies. They’ve even recently added a whole bunch of new ones having to relate to the brand new movie!

The cocktails here are STRONG, but they also have some really fantastic small bites. This isn’t a full service restaurant, but you can absolutely share a few of these apps and get a whole meal out of it. AND it is kid friendly, so don’t be afraid to bring your family.

We tried both specialty cocktails and the food item here. The Florida Mule and the Jock’s Citrus Old Fashion were both delightful and well crafted! Our only complaint was that the old fashion could have been better with a single large ice cube rather than the regular smaller ice cubes to keep it from watering down as quickly.

The food offering was the Florida Shrimp Tacos. These had a fantastic flavor with a watermelon pico, jalepenos, and excellently flavored shrimp! These are very messy as the corn tortillas don’t love to stay together, but they were a fantastic light summer dish.

D-Luxe Burger

If seafood and sweets isn’t your thing, don’t fret! D-Luxe Burger is a quick service restaurant that kinda reminds me of a more home-like country version of a Burger-fi. You can mobile order or simply order from the counter and they will bring your food to your table when it’s ready.

The special burger is the Lime Garage Burger and HOLY COW was this delicious! There was an avocado lime something that had an insanely good flavor and the fried green tomato added a little sweet juiciness. OH! And did I mention that it has pork belly too? This restaurant always slaps, but this specialty burger was especially delish!

Polite Pig

Speaking of BBQ - Polite Pig is another favorite of ours! They serve a variety of delicious BBQ and have a Bourbon Bar with lots of specialty cocktails. This restaurant is a Quick Service/Table Service hybrid. You will order at a counter then find a table and a server will bring you your food. If there are other things like drinks or more food items you would like to order, you can do so with your server at your table!

We actually did NOT get BBQ this time, but we did get the Key West Pink Shrimp Ceviche. This was a large totally shareable portion with LOTS of shrimp and super fresh smoked watermelon. The watermelon had a super interesting flavor with the little bit of char and it paired nicely with the super flavorful cocktail style shrimp. The roasted corn and other veggies gave this dish a super light, summery, and complex taste. This was probably my personal favorite thing we had of the day!

Not listed in the foodie guide is a specialty old fashion where the bourbon is ‘washed’ in bacon fat. I know! Sounds super weird… BUT it gives this drink a super smooth, rich, and smoky flavor that made it a much easier drink to sip than the Citrus Old Fashion from Jock Lindsey’s. The Bourbon is local from St. Augustine so you get that true Florida taste in every sip!

Amorette’s Patisserie

Alright! Back to the sweets! Amorette’s is a pastry shop that has a variety of beautiful treats! Think tiny cheesecakes, eclairs, tarts, and the like. These are each a work of art and be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but they are so worth it!

We got the Orange Cream Puff. It was honestly pretty basic, but by this point, it was perfectly light and had just enough flavor of citrus and honey for a great afternoon treat. They also have a fun dome cake and spritzer at this location, but those were a little spendy for us that day at $65 for the dome cake (this could easily feed 5-8 people) and $38 for the Spritzer that comes with a souvenir Corkcicle Tumbler.

Spice & Tea Exchange

One of my favorite stores in Disney Springs is the Spice & Tea Exchange. They sell a variety of… you guessed it! - Spices and Loose Leaf Teas. They also have a Tea Bar that serves a selection of brewed teas that you can purchase. The special flavor for this month is the Florida Sunshine. This was a light and refreshing tea that was PERFECT for a hot Florida July day. The flavors were not super strong, but it was a great refreshing option. AND you can even purchase the loose leaf tea to take home as a souvenir!

They change up these special foodie events almost every month, so if you miss this one, that’s ok! Be on the lookout for whatever the next one may be! In the past they have celebrated Black History Month, Pacific Islander Heritage, National Women’s Month, and much more.
