Grand Floridian Cafe Breakfast

One of my FAVORITE breakfasts on property is just a short monorail or ferry boat ride from the Magic Kingdom! Grand Floridian Cafe is a sit-down casual dining restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. They serve traditional breakfast fare with a Floridian twist and is a great one to try if you are staying here or even if you just want a more relaxing start to your Magic Kingdom day.

Getting There

If you are staying at a the Grand Floridian, that’s an easy one! This restaurant is located on the bottom level of the main building, just off the left of the lobby past the Sundries Store.

If you are not staying here, that’s where it gets slightly more tricky! If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you will find that there are no resort to resort buses. That being the case, you will need to take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then transfer to either the Monorail or Ferry Boats to get to the Grand Floridian. There is also a walking path from Magic Kingdom to this resort that takes around 20-30 minutes to walk.

If you want a more direct route, you can also take a Minnie Van, Uber, or other rideshare from your resort to this one.

If you are NOT staying at a Disney Resort, you can still take an Uber or other rideshare, but if you wish to drive your own car, just be aware they have made some recent changes.

I know for us in the past, we would book a breakfast reservation, park & dine there, and then head to Magic Kingdom for the day so that we could skip the craziness of the morning Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) Rush (which is where you park to get to the Magic Kingdom). However, recently, they have been cracking down on those that have been cheating the system to get free parking at this resort. You are no longer able to park the entire day, you will be given a 3 hour parking voucher and be directed to park across the street in the cast member parking lot. After that three hours, you will need to move your car to the TTC for the remainder of your visit. I won’t lie that this is a little inconvenient if you are trying to make it for rope drop, so I recommend Ubering if you can!

The Vibe

This quaint restaurant is simple and elegant and has many little darling touches throughout the decor. Large windows line the entire restaurant giving the room lots of beautiful morning light and the whole restaurant has a light and airy quality to it. On occasion, they may even have some outdoor seating! (Note: There is currently alot of refurbishment construction happening, so depending on your visit, this may or may not be available.)

This is usually a pretty easy restaurant to get into and they even have larger tables that can seat bigger parties. So if you have a big group and are looking for something easy to get, this is a great one to consider!

The Food

The food offerings here are traditional comfort food, with a Floridian Twist! Every table is greeted with biscuits and citrus butter. The biscuits may tend to be on the dryer side, but that butter is DELICIOUS! They also have coffee and tea in the sweetest little mugs.

They have appetizers that are great to supplement your meal such as Avocado Toast and Heirloom Apple Salad. The Avocado Toast is light and perfectly ripe with a grainy and flavorful toast. The tomatoes add the perfect amount of sweetness to this dish. The Heirloom Apple Salad is delicious! It has an excellent blend of texture and flavors from the sweet apples, savory cheddar and prosciutto, and my favorite, the crunchy candied pecan brittle!

For entrees, they offer a great variety depending on if you just want a traditional eggs, bacon, and hash type meal or something more unique like their Lobster Eggs Benedict or the famous Mickey Chicken & Waffles! I’ll be honest that the Chicken & Waffles may be some of the best things on the menu! They bread the chicken in corn flakes to give it the perfect crunch and drizzle with a hot honey to give it a slight kick in flavor. (don’t worry, it isn’t very spicy snd you can always request without) They give you a giant Mickey Waffle, so it’s like the perfect Mickey Waffles for grownups! This is a very filling dish, so I highly recommend sharing this one!

The Lobster Eggs Benedict is also a favorite! There is that yummy mix of flavors you would expect from a benedict with the hollandaise and juicy runny eggs, but you get that very ‘Floridian’ twist with the lobster. If you are not a big fan of seafood, they have a traditional Benedict as well!

My honorable mention is the Bananas Foster Style Steel Cut Oatmeal. This is a thick creamy oatmeal that comes with bananas, brown sugar, and a drizzle of honey or syrup. If you like your oatmeal sweet, you’ll definitely want to add that brown sugar, but it is a delicious take on your morning oatmeal!

That’s Not All!

This restaurant doesn’t just serve breakfast! It does serve lunch and dinner as well! Although we haven’t had the chance to try those ourselves, I’ve heard that it is just as fantastic!
