Sanaa - The Best Bread Service at Disney
When I say that I’m a foodie, I mean that I love unique flavors and interesting exotic dishes. Other people may not always be as adventurous as me, but it’s always fun to try something a little different. Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has an excellent selection of offerings that are both exciting, but also not so outside the box that you’d be afraid to try.
Animal Kingdom Lodge is made up to two sides: Jambo House and Kidani Village. Jambo House is the main part of the resort and Kidani Village is the DVC or Disney Vacation Club side of the resort. Kidani is where you will find Sanaa. Just down the lobby, you will find some stairs that take you directly down to the restaurant.

The Restaurant
Sanaa is an African & Asian fusion restaurant with exotic spices and flavors along with more familiar dishes. The restaurant is full of cultural art and designs while the outside is fully covered with windows that look out onto the savanna. I highly recommend this restaurant during the daytime so that you can see the animals! (they are most active around 5-6 during their feeding time).
Attached to the front of the restaurant is the Lounge. This is a small but equally as beautiful little spot that is great to grab a few cocktails and even try some of the menu if you aren’t able to snag a reservation. Keep in mind, this is first come, first serve. The drink selections are pretty typical of what you would find at lounges around Walt Disney World, but there are some tasty cocktails on the menu!
The Drinks
We dined in the restaurant and did sample a few cocktails like the Kande Coconut Cooler - A refreshing combination of Starr African Rum, Coconut, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Orange Juice ($14.50) and the Smoked Turkey - Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon, Grenadine, and Minute Maid® Premium Lemonade with a hint of Hickory Smoke, garnished with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries ($16.50) Both were great and simple cocktails that went great with our lunch!
The Bread Service
You truly cannot visit this restaurant and not get the Indian Style Bread Service! This is a FANTASTIC sampling of 5 different Breads and 9, that’s right! NINE different accompaniments. It’s a bit of a hefty price at $21.00, but it is definitely shareable and depending on how many people you have, it’s almost a meal in itself! Here is what is included: Five Breads and with all Nine Accompaniments - Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kulcha, or Paneer Paratha. Accompaniments - Cucumber Raita, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal, or Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle
Our favorites where the Spiced Naan, the Garlic Pickle, Jalepeno-Lime, and the Hummus! But honestly, it’s all really good. Pro tip! Ask for an extra piece of Naan to go with your meal!
Potjie Inspired
There are some basic dishes on the menu like a burger, chicken, and curry, but the best thing is the Potjie Inspired! You choose one dish from the ‘Journey’ which is your protein or meat, and one from the ‘Harvest’ which is your veggie or stew. Each meal also comes with Scented Basmati Rice. Again, all of these are pretty good, but the best if for sure, hands down the Butter Chicken! The flavor is delicious and the chicken is juicy and tender. The Braised Beef is also good, but it doesn’t quite compare. Of the harvest, my personal favorite is the Chickpea Wat. It’s a little spicy, but it’s more of a back of the throat spice. We’ve also tried the Rajma Masala which is pretty good if you like beans and the Lentil Daal is definitely a more mild flavor.
This dish is quite large and easily shareable (especially if you got the bread service) and comes out to $31.00 for the meal. I personally recommend sharing, although if you are like me and want to take leftovers home, you may not want to! lol
Overall Thoughts
Truly this restaurant is in my top five for sit down dining! The food, the ambiance, and the service are fantastic! You do have to be a little bit of an adventurous eater to dine here, but nothing is so crazy out there that even picky eaters would be willing to try. Reservations are highly recommend for this restaurant and can be made 60 days in advance, however this is one that you can usually find last minute reservations for.
During breakfast, they have a casual walk up breakfast offering and they also do mobile order for lunch and dinner! So if you aren’t able to get a reservation or if the lounge is full, you can still order that bread service and other select options to go.
Animal Kingdom Lodge may be a little out of the way, but this could be a great addition to your Animal Kingdom Park day! Just hop on a bus for an afternoon break or even dinner in the evening before heading to Disney Springs. Either way, it’s one I would definitely consider for your next trip!
